THE ARTISAN CRAFT OF CERAMICS

This artisan mate kit excels through its ease of use and care, making it an ideal candidate for enjoying a traditional mate without worrying about curing.

As for our ceramic gourd, its made-to-measure crafting by our artisan, Cristian, in Uruguay gives you a unique mate gourd - accessible and within everyone's reach.

AT THE HEART OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

This is when our artisan, Cristian, begins his meticulous work.

By hand, he dresses the squash in leather and shapes feet to protect and stabilize it. He then crafts a made-to-measure band and chisels it by hand, before fitting it to the top of the mate gourd.

That's why our gourds are unique. Total production time, from the growth of the squash to leaving Cristian's workshop, is between 12 and 18 months.

Tout savoir sur votre Camionero Mate Gourd - Ceramic

Does this gourd need curing?
No. Its ceramic interior needs no curing whatsoever: it is ready to use the moment it arrives. It is the simplest way into mate, with no preliminary step.
How do I look after it?
A rinse with hot water is enough, then leave it to dry. Ceramic absorbs no aromas: the taste of your mate depends entirely on the quality of your yerba.
What is the capacity, and how much mate should I use?
This Camionero gourd holds around 200 ml. Allow 25 to 30 g of leaves for a 200 ml gourd, with water at 70–80 °C. See our guide to the traditional preparation of mate.
How does it differ from a calabash gourd?
Ceramic soaks up nothing: no curing, no special care, and a perfectly neutral taste. A calabash, on the other hand, is cured, takes on a patina and enriches the mate over the years — it is the traditional choice. Our guide to choosing the right gourd size will help you decide.
What is the rim made of?
The rim is stainless steel: it protects the neck, stands up to hot water and needs no special care.
