The Wooden Gourd
Our wooden mate gourd comes from the Jujube tree, a thorny tree commonly found around the Mediterranean.
Mate gourds are varnished to provide long-lasting protection and are perfect for daily mate consumption. They hold between 120ml and 150ml and can accommodate up to 20g of yerba mate.
This gourd can be used immediately and does not need curing!
The Bombilla
You will receive in your kit a Classic Bombilla made of stainless steel, 16 cm long, perfectly suited to the supplied gourd.
Indeed, its size and weight provide good stability and an optimal filtration of the mate.
The Organic Mate
The Discovery Mate Kit includes a 100g tin of Grand Cru organic green mate:
- Grand Cru Organic Green Mate: Low intensity. Ideal for those who do not seek bitterness in mate. Freshly harvested, its very mild flavor will appeal to all enthusiasts.
Orders placed before 11am are shipped the same day.

Our grand cru green mate has the distinction of being grown on the agroforestry model and harvested at maturity, giving it a richer, smoother flavor.
It's the ideal mate for discovering the plant, its virtues, and calmly exploring the rich diversity of flavors across the different mates.
For optimal storage, our grand cru mate is protected by its beautiful tin, made in France and hand screen-printed.
The tin is then reusable - the only limit is your imagination!

Why mate?
Mate is a traditional South American drink made from the leaves of the yerba mate tree.
It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and has stimulating properties similar to coffee and tea. It can help improve focus, energy and digestion.
How to prepare and drink mate?
Mate is traditionally prepared in a gourd and drunk through a bombilla, a filtered metal straw.
Fill the gourd about 2/3 full with yerba mate, add hot water (not boiling, around 70-80°C) and sip through the bombilla.
When to drink mate?
Mate can be enjoyed at any time of day, depending on individual preferences and needs.
As it contains caffeine, it is often enjoyed in the morning or early afternoon for a boost of energy and focus.
