Each piece is unique, and every detail is meticulously crafted over many months. This unparalleled level of craftsmanship means we can only produce a very limited number of pieces.
The Imperial Mate Gourd is of an unmatched craftsmanship quality.
Each one is unique. Indeed, the engravings and patterns, as well as the bronze inlays, follow our artisan’s inspiration.
Measuring 13 cm high with a 10 cm diameter, the Imperial holds between 200 ml and 400 ml and can accommodate up to 30 g of yerba mate. As the mate gourd is entirely handcrafted, capacity and size may vary slightly.
Our Imperial gourds are already pre-cured.

AN EXCEPTIONAL NATURAL GOURD
THE SQUASH, THE ORIGIN OF THE GOURD
Our mate gourds are made from the sturdiest squashes, grown in southern Brazil.
These squashes are recognized as the best for gourd making thanks to their shape and thickness.
After harvest, the squash is emptied then dried for several months, to acquire the resilient properties of wood.
AT THE HEART OF CRAFTSMANSHIP
This is when our artisan, Cristian, begins his meticulous work.
By hand, he dresses the squash in leather and shapes feet to protect and stabilize it. He then crafts a made-to-measure band and chisels it by hand, before fitting it to the top of the mate gourd.
That's why our gourds are unique. Total production time, from the growth of the squash to leaving Cristian's workshop, is between 12 and 18 months.
