What is the composition of a mate kit?

We have designed mate packs that include:

How to choose your mate kit?

Choosing your mate kit depends on several criteria related to your personal preferences, frequency of use, and the experience you want to have.

Here are some tips to help you with your selection:

The calabash and the bombilla

The choice of gourd (the container used to drink mate) and bombilla (the filtering straw) is essential.
Gourds can be made from natural gourd , wood , or modern materials such as ceramic or stainless steel . Each material offers a different experience in terms of taste and temperature retention.

Easy to clean

Materials like stainless steel or ceramic are generally easier to maintain than natural gourd.

Budget

The prices of mate kits vary depending on the materials used. Set a budget, keeping in mind that quality and durability may justify a higher cost.

Your choice of mate kit will depend on your personal preferences in terms of taste, the importance you place on quality and durability , as well as how you plan to use the mate.

How to prepare a traditional mate tea with the mate kit?

After acquiring a mate kit, all that's left is the preparation step!

Here's how to prepare your mate in a gourd, to optimize the flavors and the experience:

  1. Fill your mate gourd three-quarters full with mate.

  2. Tilt the gourd slightly so that the leaves gather on one side, creating an empty space on the other side.

  3. Gently pour lukewarm or cold water over the tilted leaves. This preliminary step allows the leaves to moisten gently, promoting optimal infusion without burning them.

  4. Let your gourd rest for 5 to 10 minutes. This waiting time allows the leaves to absorb the water and facilitates the formation of the "mountain" of mate, essential for a successful infusion.

  5. Carefully insert the bombilla into the gourd, anchoring it firmly at the bottom next to the "mountain" of leaves.

  6. Gently pour the hot water (ideally between 70°C and 80°C, never boiling) into the previously created space, to delicately extract the flavors without altering the beneficial properties of the yerba.
