IS OUR MATE CERTIFIED ORGANIC?
Our mate comes from organic agroforestry farming .
The agroforest is a “semi-wild” mode of cultivation, ie the mate plants grow freely in the heart of the forest and draw their resources from the great biodiversity offered by the forests of southern Brazil.
Certified by ECOCERT , no chemicals or GMOs have been used to cultivate our mate since 1970 .
WHAT DOES MATE TASTE?
Mate is a plant in its own right , so it has its own flavor that depends on the different types of mate and their quality.
Medium and low quality matés are very bitter , this is due to the type of cultivation and premature harvesting . Generally, the leaves are harvested every year, before they have reached full maturity. The taste is inevitably affected, for comparison, an olive harvested before maturity will naturally be more bitter.
We harvest the leaves every two years , which makes our mate softer and naturally sweeter.
Also, we offer different matés: Green, Refined 24 months and Roasted. The flavor of these matés differs drastically.
• Green mate is similar to green tea in its sweetness.
• The 24-month matured maté is a little more bitter.
•Roasted mate is the happy medium between coffee and tea. It's the ideal mate to slow down, see coffee gradually stop!
HOW TO BREW MATE?
There are several brewing methods for mate and it depends on your equipment and preferences.
You can infuse your mate with a tea ball or with our biodegradable infusion bags . This method of infusion has the advantage of considerably reducing the bitterness of the mate. We recommend this method for new mate consumers to get used to the flavor.
If you are a mate lover and prefer to dose your infusion at your convenience, we recommend an infusion in a French press. You will be able to manage the intensity of your infusion and the quantity of mate to infuse . It's the best way to share your mate if you don't have a calabash!
Of course, if you have a calabash , the traditional infusion is the most suitable.
