Mate Kits
Our mate kits were created with the aim of discovering traditional mate. Thanks to our kits, it is possible to start drinking mate in a traditional way.
These kits are perfect for beginners , but also for mate lovers wanting to upgrade to high-quality, hand-made artisanal equipment accompanied by exceptional organic mate.
What is the composition of a mate kit?
We have designed mate packs including:
- A mate gourd
- A mate bombilla
- 500 grams of organic mate
How to choose your mate kit?
Choosing your mate kit depends on several criteria related to your personal preferences, frequency of use, as well as the experience you want to have.
Here are some tips to help you in your selection:
The calabash and the bombilla
The choice of the calabash (the container used to drink the mate) and the bombilla (the filtering straw) is essential.
Gourds can be made of natural gourd , wood , or modern materials like ceramic or stainless steel . Each material offers a different experience in terms of taste and temperature retention.
Easy to clean
Materials like stainless steel or ceramic are generally easier to maintain than natural gourd.
Budget
Mate kits vary in price depending on the materials used. Set a budget, keeping in mind that quality and durability may justify a higher cost.
Choosing your mate kit will depend on your personal taste preferences , how much you value quality and durability , and how you plan to use the mate.
How to prepare a traditional mate with the mate kit?
After purchasing a mate kit, all that's left is the preparation stage!
Here's how to prepare your mate in a gourd, in order to optimize its flavors and experience:
- Fill your mate gourd three-quarters full of mate.
- Tilt the gourd slightly so that the leaves gather on one side, creating an empty space on the other side.
- Carefully pour warm or cold water over the inclined leaves. This preliminary step allows the leaves to moisten gently, promoting optimal infusion, without burning them.
- Let your gourd sit for 5 to 10 minutes. This waiting time allows the leaves to absorb the water and facilitates the formation of the "mountain" of mate, essential for a successful infusion.
- Insert the bombilla into the gourd, carefully, anchoring it firmly at the bottom next to the "mountain" of leaves.
- Gently pour the hot water (ideally between 70°C and 80°C, never boiling) into the free space created previously, to delicately extract the flavors without altering the beneficial properties of the yerba.
