Organic, Fair-Trade Mate

Our organic mate (or so-called "mate tea") stands out for its agroforestry-based farming, respectful of the environment and supportive of biodiversity.

This organic, fair process ensures a harvest every two years - in contrast to conventional six-month practices - to guarantee superior quality and unmatched aromatic richness.

Together with seasoned partners, we've developed an exceptional organic mate range offering a spectrum of unique flavors.

We offer organic yerba mate in several forms:

Our mate also comes in several varieties: from herbal green and aged to roasted, plus fruity blends with tropical, lemon or mint flavors.

Each option is designed to satisfy the most demanding palates, offering an immersion into the diversity and richness of the world of organic mate.

What is mate?

Mate, a traditional South American plant grown mainly in Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, is renowned for being drunk as an infusion, much like tea.

This hot drink is prized not only for its unique taste, but also for its many benefits for health and well-being.

What are the benefits of mate?

Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, mate leaves offer a range of positive effects on the body.

They naturally stimulate the nervous system, support focus and alertness, promote healthy digestion and support the immune system.

Beyond its energizing effects, mate is also valued for its wellness properties. It can support weight management, notably thanks to its fat-burning reputation.

Drunk regularly, mate is a beneficial drink combining taste pleasure and wellness - a staple of South American culture.

How to prepare mate?

Here are three preparation methods, each distinct in method and approach, each offering a unique tasting experience.

Traditional mate preparation

The traditional method of preparing mate uses a gourd and a bombilla (filtered straw).

The technique starts by filling the gourd two-thirds full with dried mate leaves.

The gourd is then tilted to create a slope, before pouring hot (not boiling) water on the lower side, to avoid burning the leaves and to preserve their aromas.

The bombilla is inserted into the deep part of the leaves, filtering the drink and letting you savor mate in its most authentic form.

This method favors a slow infusion and maximum flavor extraction.

Preparation with a tea infuser

For those looking for a more practical method, or without access to a gourd and bombilla, the tea infuser offers a modern alternative.

Much like preparing a classic tea, this technique involves filling a tea infuser with dried mate leaves, then immersing it in a cup of hot water for a few minutes.

Preparation with tea bags

The mate tea bag technique is the most accessible and easiest for newcomers or people on the go.

Simply place a bag in a cup, add hot water, and let it steep for a few minutes depending on the intensity you want.

Each of these preparation techniques offers a different doorway into the rich cultural and taste universe of this drink, letting everyone find their own way to enjoy mate according to their tastes and lifestyle.

Do you know the three great mates?

South America's emblematic drink, mate, comes in several variants, each offering a unique taste experience: green mate, roasted mate, and aged mate.

Although these three types come from the same leaves, it is the post-harvest treatment that gives them their distinct aromatic profiles:

  • Green mate is characterized by its youth and freshness, offering herbal nuances and a liveliness reminiscent of nature's freshness.

  • Aged mate, for its part, benefits from a maturation process of 12 to 24 months. This aging develops a richer, more intense bouquet, with deep, nuanced tasting notes.

  • Finally, roasted mate is the result of careful low-temperature roasting. This special treatment gives it round, warm aromas, with an originality that can evoke the flavors of coffee. This version will particularly appeal to those seeking a coffee alternative, offering a unique depth of taste.

These variations of mate let every lover of this age-old drink find the version that suits them, according to their taste preferences and the experience they're after.
