When your thermos arrives, it's fresh from the factory - it has never touched any liquid. So it's worth preparing your thermos for its new life.

Before any use, we advise following the steps below to best preserve its qualities and longevity:

  • Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 L of boiling water.
  • Pour the solution into the thermos and leave it to work for 12h.

Once the wait is over, rinse the thermos thoroughly with clean water!

Your Tempera® thermos is ready! You can repeat this cleaning once a week, or after contact with milk, coffee or any other liquid!

Carrying your thermos is easy!

Whatever the quality of your thermos, there are several points where you need to stay vigilant to avoid harming its thermal performance.

Never clean or fill your thermos with an acidic liquid such as:

  • Sodas
  • Caustic acids
  • Chlorine

Also take care with how you use the thermos itself:

  • Don't put your thermos in the microwave.
  • Don't heat the thermos directly.
  • Don't wash it in the dishwasher.
  • Keep out of children's reach.
  • Don't wash with harsh products like bleach.
  • Don't clean with an abrasive.

Follow all our advice, and your thermos should naturally stay with you for a very long time and accompany all your mates!

Questions fréquentes

How do you clean a mate thermos?
The go-to method: 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda in 1 litre of boiling water, poured into the flask and left to work for 12 hours, then rinsed thoroughly with clean water. Do this before the first use, then roughly once a month.
Why shouldn't you put a thermos in the dishwasher?
Because heat and detergents attack the seals and can compromise the insulating vacuum between the two walls — and it is that vacuum that keeps the water hot. A flask put through the dishwasher may lose its thermal performance for good.
How do you get rid of odours in a thermos?
The 12-hour bicarbonate soak deals with it in the vast majority of cases, including stubborn coffee smells. Between uses, always store the flask with the stopper open: a closed, damp flask is the perfect breeding ground for bad odours.
